With a rather mysterious video, Warner Bros. presents the new film by South Korean Oscar-winning director Bong Joon-ho (Parasite, Snowpiercer, Okja). Entitled Mickey 17, the film stars Robert Pattinson in his first role after the success of The Batman, the new big-screen adventure of the iconic DC Comics hero.

The brief teaser trailer, which reveals nothing of the film's plot, reveals that Mickey 17 will hit theaters in March 2024.

Mickey 17 is based on the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. The protagonist is described as "a disposable employee" who is used for the colonization of a new planet and who, when he dies, is regenerated into a new body, while keeping all his memories intact. When a Mickey, thought to be lost and long dead, returns to base, he discovers that he has been replaced by a new Mickey. In addition to Robert Pattinson, the exceptional cast of the film also includes Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.

Production began in August, but the film is still filming and it looks like the filmmakers will use all of 2023 for post-production. This schedule seems to indicate that Mickey 17 is a rather massive production, full of special effects that take time to make. We can't wait to find out more about it!

Robert Pattinson is continuing his climb to megastar status after his acclaimed role in Matt Reeves' The Batman, which hit theaters in March. Following his stellar breakthrough in the Twilight series, he focused on independent films for arthouse directors, garnering critical and commercial acclaim for performances in films such as Cosmopolis, Good Time, High Life, and The Lighthouse.

Mickey 17 will be his third film for Warner Bros. in four years, following his roles in Christopher Nolan's The Batman and Tenet (2020). The film is produced by Plan B Entertainment, Kate Street Picture Company's Dooho Choi, and Bong Joon-ho's Offscreen, Inc. The creative team behind the camera includes director of photography Darius Khondji (Okja), production designer Fiona Crombie (The Favorite, Cruella), editor Yang Jin-mo (Parasite), costume designer Catherine George (Okja, Snowpiercer) and visual effects supervisor Dan Glass (The Matrix). The music is by composer Jae-il Jung (Parasite, Squid game).
